- Standard solid deck profile is 133mm x 24mm and standard hollow deck profile is 140mm x 32 mm.
- Suggested spacing between deck planks is 4mm to 5mm as per deck clip.
- Suggested carrier beams are 114mm x 38mm and 225mm x 38mm depending on the full installation, using the correct beam is very important and a design engineer should be consulted, this is a safety factor for the structure. The standard deck clip is designed for use on 38mm wide timber.
- The carrier beam must not exceed more than 500mm from the centre to centre or a spacing gap of 460mm between beams.
- Do not lay decking directly onto a concrete surface. The correct method of laying decking on a concrete surface is to first secure 38mm x 38mm plastic timber battons to the concrete surface at the standard spacing of 500mm centres and install the decking planks to these as per normal decking installation.

Installation Procedure:
- Tools required for decking installation:
- 2 x 50 square driver bit
- Power screwdriver or drilling machine with adjustable torque clutch
- Tennon saw with mitre box or combination mitre saw
- Rubber mallet
- 3mm drill bit for pilot holes
- After installation of your super structure you must start your decking installation from an edge point away from walls or obstacles and lay the decking towards these obstacles, as cuttings should be placed against these obstacles.
- The installation of the first row of planks is very important, ensure this row lines up with the edge of the beams and it is straight or perpendicular to the carrier beams.
- The first deck plank has to be secured through the dove tailed joint. A 3mm pilot hole must be drilled through the edge at 45 degrees before the plank is secured with a screw. Note diagram B shows this procedure. The deck plank can now be screwed to the beams, ensure your power screwdriver or drilling machine’s clutch is set moderately to ensure you do not force the screw through the edge of the plank.

- The following step is to place the reverse deck clips into the dove tail groove and screw them down. Remember to have your power screwdriver or drilling machine’s clutch set at moderate strength or you might break the screw. Note Diagram C.

- Placing the next plank behind the secured deck clips using the rubber mallet knock the next plank in line with the clip until it clicks in against the spacing stop: repeat this process in line with clip until the plank is secure. Repeat step 5 & 6 to complete your deck. Note Diagram D.
